Stock Cricket Club, Common Road, Stock, Essex

You are visitor number 51269

Cricket has been played on Stock Common since 1769, and this tradition is continued throughout the Summer with League and Friendly fixtures, as well as a thriving Colts section. If you have an interest in playing Cricket, Umpiring, watching, scoring, making teas, running the bar or just coming along for a social, you won't find more pleasant surroundings.

The setting is a classic one for the traditional village game. The outfield, surrounded by trees that are largely backed by houses, undulates, while the wicket, which is now of excellent quality, sits slightly off centre to give very short boundaries in different directions depending upon where the wicket is set.

Stock has certainly been a successful club with a tradition of playing excellence - three Premier Division championship titles and reaching the quarter-final (1973) and the semi-final (1991) of the National Village Competition as well as being Essex Village Champions 4 times and Essex Area winners on no less than 8 occasions. It is the only village team in the area to run three Saturday XIs plus two Sunday XIs, a midweek side and three Colts teams.
